Terms of Service
NEXUS 9BIT · LAST UPDATED OCTOBER 17, 2026
1. Agreement
By buying, installing or using Nexus 9bit (the “Software”), you agree to these terms. The Software is sold by Johnny Haynes Consultation and made by Johnny Haynes (“I”, “me”). If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
2. What you are buying
Nexus 9bit is a live desktop wallpaper and screensaver. It draws pink-to-purple glyph rain (math symbols, code characters, Chinese characters and Cyrillic letters) behind your desktop icons, runs as a screensaver, and includes a settings window and a tray menu. One purchase includes the Windows, Linux and macOS (Beta) builds.
3. License
You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on computers you own or control. You may not sell, rent, lease, sublicense, redistribute or publish the Software or your download links, and you may not modify, decompile or reverse engineer it or remove its copyright notice, name or logo, except where the law expressly allows it. The installer shows the same terms as an End User License Agreement.
4. One-time purchase
The Software is sold for a single one-time price shown at checkout ($29.95 USD). It is not a subscription. Payments are processed by Stripe, and I do not receive or store your card details.
5. What the Software changes on your computer
On Windows, the installer copies the program and the Nexus9bit.scr screensaver file to your computer and, if you choose, sets Nexus 9bit as your screensaver and adds a “Run at startup” entry for your user account. The live wallpaper draws behind your desktop icons while it runs and puts your normal wallpaper back when it stops. Uninstalling removes the program, the screensaver file and the startup entry; your settings file is kept. On macOS and Linux the Software adds only its own app files, a settings file and, if you turn on “Run at login”, a LaunchAgent (macOS) or an autostart entry (Linux) for your user account.
6. macOS Beta
The macOS builds are offered as a beta. They have not yet been tested on a real Mac and may not work on every Mac or macOS version.
7. No warranty
The Software is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, lost data or lost profits from using, or being unable to use, the Software, and my total liability is limited to the price you paid for it.
9. Termination
This license ends automatically if you break these terms or receive a refund. When it ends, you must uninstall and delete the Software.
10. Third-party components
The Software is built with the .NET runtime, Avalonia UI and SkiaSharp, which are used under their own open-source (MIT) licenses.
11. Changes
I may update the Software or these terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.
