NEXUS 9BIT · LAST UPDATED OCTOBER 17, 2026
1. Who we are
Nexus 9bit is a live wallpaper and screensaver for Windows, Linux and macOS (Beta), made by Johnny Haynes and sold by Johnny Haynes Consultation (“the developer”). This policy explains in plain language what the app does with your information, and what the website and purchase process handle when you buy it.
2. The short version
- The app does not collect your data. It has no accounts, no servers, no ads, no analytics and no crash-reporting service.
- The app makes no internet connections. Everything it draws is generated on your computer.
- The only files it writes are its own settings and a diagnostics log, and they stay on your computer.
3. What the app stores on your computer
Settings. Your choices for density, speed, glow, opacity and frame rate are saved in a settings.json file in a “Nexus 9bit” folder in your user account: %AppData%\Nexus 9bit\ on Windows and ~/.config/Nexus 9bit/ on Linux and macOS.
Diagnostics log. A plain-text log (nexus9bit.log) in the same folder records technical details such as the app version, your operating system version, how the wallpaper attached to the desktop, and any errors. It rolls over at 1 MB. It is never sent anywhere. You can open it from the tray menu (Open log) and choose to share it with support if you need help.
Startup entry. Only if you turn on run-at-startup, the app adds a startup entry for your user account (a Run entry on Windows, a LaunchAgent on macOS, or an autostart file on Linux). Turning the option off removes it.
Single-instance check (macOS and Linux). While running, the app uses a local socket file in your temporary folder so a second launch can pass commands to the copy already running. It does not use the network.
The app does not access your files, photos, camera, microphone, location, contacts or browsing data.
4. Purchases and the website
If you buy Nexus 9bit at jhconsultnow.com/nexus-9bit, payment is handled by Stripe. The developer does not see or store your card number, and Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the payment. To deliver your downloads, the download service checks your Stripe checkout session and records when your download links were first issued, so they expire 24 hours later. The developer may receive the name and email on your Stripe receipt and the purchase details, and uses them only to deliver your download, answer support requests and handle refunds. This information is never sold.
The website and download service run on Cloudflare, and the download files are served from the developer's file storage. These providers may process standard technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and files.
5. Third parties
The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code and does not track you across apps or websites. The only outside services involved in a purchase are Stripe for payment and the hosting used to deliver the website and files. The developer does not sell or share your data.
6. Deleting your data
- To remove the app's settings and log, delete the “Nexus 9bit” folder described in section 3. Uninstalling on Windows keeps your settings file, so delete the folder too if you want it gone.
- To have your purchase email deleted from support records, email the developer. Stripe may keep payment records as required by law.
7. Children's privacy
Nexus 9bit is a general-purpose desktop app and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has sent the developer personal information, email the developer and it will be deleted.
8. Changes to this policy
If the app's behavior changes, for example if a feature that uses the internet is ever added, this policy and the date at the top will be updated before the change ships.
