NEXUS SCANNER · LAST UPDATED OCTOBER 6, 2026

1. Who we are

Nexus Scanner (package com.nexus.scanner) is an Android document scanner made by Johnny Haynes, JH Consult ("the developer"). This policy explains in plain language what the app does with your information, and what the website and purchase process handle when you buy it.

2. The short version

3. What the app accesses and why

Camera. The camera is used for the live preview, document edge detection, capturing pages and ID cards, and reading QR codes and barcodes. Camera frames are processed in memory. Only the pages you capture and save are stored, and they never leave your device.

Photos you pick. When you import an image, the Android photo picker gives the app only the photos you select. The app does not ask for broad photo, media or storage permission.

Files you choose. The Android file picker is used only when you save a backup (.zip), save recognized text (.txt), or open a backup to restore it. You pick the location or file.

App-private storage. The app saves your scans (JPEG page images), a local database (document names, folder names, page order and recognized text), your saved signature image, app settings, and a short crash note if the app crashes (see section 7). This stays on your device.

The app does not access your location, contacts, microphone, calendar, phone number or device identifiers, and does not use the Android advertising ID.

4. Text recognition and barcode scanning

Text recognition and QR/barcode scanning use Google's ML Kit libraries, with the models bundled inside the app. Images are processed on your device and are not sent to Google or anyone else. ML Kit includes a component that can log anonymous usage statistics. In Nexus Scanner that component is disabled, and the app has no internet permission, so it has no way to send anything.

5. What you choose to share

The app only sends content to another app or location when you ask it to:

6. Android device backup

The app allows Android's built-in backup and device-to-device transfer to include its scans, database and saved signature. If you have device backup turned on (for example, Google backup to your Google Account), Android and Google may back up that data and restore it on a new device under your own device and account settings. The developer never receives that data. You can turn this off in your Android settings.

7. Crash notes (local only)

If the app crashes, it writes a short text note (app version, device model, Android version and the technical error) to its private storage. On the next launch it shows you the note with Copy, Share and Dismiss buttons. Nothing is sent automatically, and tapping Dismiss deletes it. If you choose to share a note with support, it is used only to fix the problem.

8. Purchases and the website

If you buy Nexus Scanner at jhconsultnow.com/nexus, payment is handled by Stripe. The developer does not see or store your card number, and Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the payment. The developer may receive the name and email on your Stripe receipt and the purchase details, and uses them only to deliver your download, answer support requests and handle refunds. This information is never sold. If you install the app from Google Play, Google handles the purchase and download under its own privacy policy.

9. Third parties

The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites. The only outside services involved are the ones you choose to use: Stripe for payment on the website, Google Play if you install from there, Android or Google device backup if you have it turned on, and any app you share content to. The developer does not sell or share your data.

10. Keeping your data safe

Your scans live in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read on an unmodified Android device. The app does not add its own encryption on top of Android's, so a screen lock and Android's device encryption are recommended. Treat exported PDFs and backup files like the original documents.

11. Deleting your data

12. Children's privacy

Nexus Scanner is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has sent the developer personal information, email the developer and it will be deleted.

13. Changes to this policy

If the app's behavior changes, for example if a feature that uses the internet is ever added, this policy and the date at the top will be updated before the change ships.
